General questions

Another question? contact@alcess.com

What exactly do I get when I sign up?

The whole software, with no add-ons: a till on an Android tablet or browser that works even offline, ordering and payment at the table by QR code, a kitchen screen for each preparation station, stock and food cost, team management (permissions, time clock, schedule), a tamper-proof tax register with Z reports, and a dashboard that shows what you really earn.

Do I need to buy any hardware?

No kiosk. For the till, an Android tablet or any computer with a browser; for the kitchen, a screen you already have (tablet, computer, TV). A thermal printer is optional: it prints receipts and opens the cash drawer. Your guests use their own phones, without installing anything.

What happens if the internet goes down during service?

The till keeps taking payments: each sale is numbered and signed and its receipt printed on the spot, then everything is sent to the server once the network is back. The kitchen screen and QR ordering do need the network — a banner says so instead of letting buttons fail silently. If your dining room relies on QR ordering, plan a backup connection (4G hotspot from a phone).

How long before my first service?

The same day. You pay, enter your legal details, paste your Chargily key, set up your menu (a photo of your existing menu is read automatically, no typing) and connect the till and the kitchen screen with a code. No technician, no cables, no closing for the day.

What does it really cost me?

4,900 DA excl. VAT per month (5,831 DA incl. VAT), whatever your volume, and no commission on your sales. −20% on a second venue. The only extra is the fee of your Chargily plan on card payments, which you choose with them.

Is there a free trial? Am I tied in?

There is no free trial: you pay for the first month — or the year — before setting up your venue. The subscription has no commitment, though: you stop whenever you like, with no exit fee.

Where does the money from orders go?

To your Chargily merchant account, never to Alcess — we never hold your funds. Chargily collects on your behalf and pays you out: you request the transfer to your bank from your Chargily space. Beyond your plan’s free withdrawal quota, that transfer is charged.

Are my receipts compliant with Algerian law?

The register already is: every payment gets a sequential number and a chained signature, tamper-proof, kept and archived — the four conditions set by article 51 bis of the CTCA, in force on 1 January 2027. However, the publisher’s undertaking that the administration will require cannot be issued yet: its template is left to an order of the Minister of Finance (art. 20 ter of the tax procedures code) that has not been published. We will issue it in the official format as soon as it is.

Does each team member have their own access?

Yes. Everyone has a personal code and permissions ticked one by one: take orders, take payments, refund, open the drawer, see sales. A sensitive action can be authorised on the spot with a manager’s code, and the log keeps who did it and who allowed it.

Can I manage several restaurants?

Yes, up to ten venues under one account. Each has its own till, payment account, team and Z reports; an overview compares them, and a menu can be copied from one to another.

Do you do delivery?

No. Alcess is built for dine-in and takeaway service: the till, the dining room and the kitchen. For delivery, you keep the platforms you already use.

Is my customers’ data protected?

Yes. Processing follows Law 25-11 on the protection of personal data: declared purposes, limited retention periods, automatic pseudonymisation of orders after 2 years and deletion of audit logs after 6 years.

Till

See the page
Which devices does the till run on?

On an Android tablet with the Alcess app, or in a browser on a computer. To print, you need the Android app, or Chrome or Edge on a computer: Safari, on iPad as on Mac, cannot reach any printer. On iPad, the till sells and takes payment, and the receipt remains available through its link.

How long can it stay offline?

Sales build up in the tablet’s queue and go out when the network returns. A team member can take over the till offline if they signed in online on it within the last 72 hours. Install the till as an app: the tablet then protects its data.

Can I have several tills?

Yes. Each tablet is a station, with its own number series, till session and drawer. A tab opened on one can be picked up on another.

How do I add a team member?

From the Team screen of the dashboard: a first name, a personal code and permissions ticked one by one, starting from a template — server, kitchen, manager. They then sign in on any enrolled tablet of the venue.

Table ordering

See the page
Does the guest need to install an app?

No. The QR code opens the menu in their phone’s browser. There is no app to install and no account to create.

What if a guest wants to pay cash?

Turn on counter payment: the order waits for a team member’s approval at the till, then goes to the kitchen, and the guest pays at the counter as usual.

What fees apply to card payments?

No commission from Alcess. Only the fees of the plan you choose with Chargily apply, from 0% to 2.5% depending on the plan. The details are on the Pricing page.

Does table ordering work offline?

No: the guest needs the network to see the menu and order, and the kitchen to receive the ticket. If your room depends on it, plan a backup connection, such as a phone’s 4G hotspot. The till itself keeps selling offline.

Kitchen display

See the page
How many kitchen screens can I have?

One per preparation station: hot, cold, bar, pastry, pass. Each dish on the menu is linked to the station that prepares it.

Do I need to buy a special screen?

No. A tablet, a computer or a TV with a browser is enough. An Android tablet with the app is recommended: it stays on and chimes without anyone touching the screen.

What happens if the internet drops in the kitchen?

The kitchen display only works online, and says so. The till keeps selling offline. Plan a backup connection, such as a phone’s 4G hotspot, if your kitchen relies on the screen.

Is a ticket marked ready by mistake lost?

No. The Recall button shows the last finished tickets and puts one back on screen with a tap.

Stock, team and reporting

See the page
Do I need a recipe card for every dish?

No, but food cost is only calculated for dishes that have one. As long as covered dishes account for less than 80% of revenue, the screen says so and does not show prime cost.

Can a team member clock in for a colleague?

No. You only clock in for yourself: identity comes from the session opened with your personal code, never from a list where you pick a name.

Do my managers see salaries?

No, unless you decide so. Hours and amounts are two separate permissions, and the second is given to nobody by default.

Can I open a second venue later?

Yes, from your dashboard, up to ten. The screen shows the new subscription amount before you confirm, and the first venue’s menu can be reused.

Tax compliance

Are my receipts compliant with Algerian law?

We will issue it in the official format as soon as it is.

Can I edit or delete a sale?

No, by design: the database itself refuses it. A mistake is corrected by a refund, which produces a numbered credit note, or by the justified cancellation of an order never paid.

What if a Z report could not run one night?

The next report catches up the missed days, one by one and in order. No day is left without a report.

Is stamp duty calculated?

Yes, on cash payments, according to the current scale. It appears separately on the receipt and never enters the VAT base.

Pricing

See the page
Is the price the same for a small and a large restaurant?

Yes. It depends neither on the number of covers, nor on revenue, nor on the number of tablets or screens.

Can the price change?

Any price increase is announced in advance, and the period you have already paid for stays at the price paid.

Where does the money from orders go?

To your Chargily merchant account, never to Alcess: we never hold your funds. The transfer to your bank is requested from your Chargily space.

Is there a free trial?

Getting started

See the page
Do I need a technician?

No. No cables to run, no software to install on a computer, no appointment: everything is set up from a browser.

Can I stop halfway?

Yes. The assistant resumes at the first step that isn’t finished, based on what is already saved.

I don’t have a Chargily account yet.

The Chargily key is required to take payments and to finish setup. The account is opened with Chargily, online: start there.

Does automatic menu reading send my data?

Only the photo of your menu is sent to be read. No information about your venue or your guests goes with it.

Hardware

See the page
Do I need an “Alcess-compatible” printer?

Any 80 mm thermal printer that speaks ESC/POS works: it is the standard. What matters is its interfaces — Ethernet and USB ideally.

Can I use an iPad?

To sell and take payment, yes, in Safari. To print and open the drawer, no: Safari cannot reach any printer, whatever the model. If you want paper receipts, choose an Android tablet.

What if the tablet breaks down?

Take another, install the app and enrol it from your settings: the menu, tables and history are on the server. With a network printer, there is nothing to reconnect.

Your restaurant can run on Alcess tonight.

You pay, you set up your menu, you install the till and the kitchen screen: the first receipt comes out the same day.
